Whatsa Kinder?

The goal of Essen Kinder is to encourage a spirit of open-mindedness and enhanced confidence often missing in today’s youth through the development of skills and talents they can apply over the course of their lifetime.

Kids love to cook because it provides them with instant gratification – for themselves and the people they care about. And, let’s be honest, cooking is fun because you’re making something that tastes delicious. What could be better?!

The focus of Essen Kinder’s programming is on preparing “everyday food” incorporating fresh, not-processed food, with a preference for seasonally-inspired, locally-sourced is given to locally-sourced ingredients. The kids quickly learn that fresher does taste better and find themselves enjoying foods to which they’ve previously turned up their noses.

Essen Kinder’s Classes and Camps are menu-based and technique-driven. What that means is your children will learn a complete meal to prepare for friends and families at home. Recipes are chosen for their value as part of a whole as well as their ability to stand alone or paired with personal favorites. However, it is the focus on basic, solid cooking techniques that will ultimately give your kids the freedom to cook with their favorite, freshest ingredients. It’s amazing to see what a child will taste when it’s been prepared with their own hands.

Essen Kinder Classes and Camps are 100% hands-on – we cook together, we clean-up together, we eat together. And we have fun. We offer a safe, individualized learning experience. All classes are small in size; we guarantee a low student-to-teacher ratio. We cook in a real household kitchen – no commercial appliances or too-high counters to intimidate or frustrate our young cooks. All Essen Kinder teachers are insured and have passed a thorough background check.
